YOU MUST ACT NOW on the PA Director Bill:
Our Congressional bill (HR 1302) has been bundled
into a large group of veterans bills under one heading
(HR 3219). This WAS PASSED during this congressional
session on Monday 27 July 2009. Our thanks go out
to Congressman HARE for initially sponsoring this
bill.
Now we need YOU to contact your SENATOR and INSIST
that the SENATE bill be passed. (It takes bills
from BOTH houses of congress to pass a law.)
The Senate has introduced on May 21, 2009 the Senate
version (S.B.1155) by Senator Collins
(Maine) and an initial cosponsor of Senator Inouye
(Hawaii). This change in the House bill should then
make it easier for senate, because they're working
on companion to this one. BUT YOU HAVE TO ACT NOW.
CONTACT your Senator...we need to have
ALL PAs call, fax, or e-mail their Senators to urge
them to co-sponsor S. 1155 (Senate
Bill 1155). We especially need you to contact
your Senator if he or she is one of the Senate Veterans
Affairs Committee members. We
need to get the Senate bill moved to the floor and
passed either by including
on the consent agenda or by including
the bill in another veterans omnibus bill.
We want to push for passage of this legislation
before the August recess!
We have a SAMPLE
of what you can tell your Senators on
this website for you to modify before
sending. Find your Senator through Thomas.
