I work with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) Effective Health Care (EHC) Program. I am contacting you to make you aware of a valuable resource for VAPAA’s members.
If you are familiar with AHRQ, then you know that its mission is to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans. As one of twelve agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services, AHRQ supports research that helps people make more informed health care decisions and improves the quality of health care services.
The primary focus of the EHC Program is to conduct comparative effectiveness research of different treatments options—drugs, devices, surgeries, and health care delivery arrangements—and to disseminate the findings through a variety of health tools and resources for medical professionals, students, and the general public. All of these tools and resources can be found on the EHC Program Web site at:http://www.
One of the great resources that may be of interest to your members is the free online CME/CEs. The EHC Program offers more than 40 different free CME/CE activities and the list is constantly growing. To make the free CME's more accessible to your members, you could place a link to the Effective Health Care Program's CME/CE Web page on the VAPAA’s Web site. (http://www.
While reviewing the VAPAA Web site, I noticed in the member’s only section there was area for Federal links, if AHRQ is not already included in that area, maybe you would will consider adding the link (http://www.ahrq.gov). If you are unfamiliar with AHRQ and all it has to offer, I highly recommend you take some time to look over this resource.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
